I am a Professor of Philosophy and I specialize in philosophy of mind, with a focus on consciousness and the mind-body problem. My most recent book is Explanatory Optimism about the Hard Problem of Consciousness (Routledge, 2023). I also have research interests in philosophy of science, pragmatism, and pollical psychology. I received my PhD from the City University of New York, Graduate Center, and I've been at UH since 2007.
