Your city just experienced a severe hurricane which caused the campus to be closed for 10 days.  Neither you nor students were able to work on course content because the city continuously lost Internet and power.  Although it has gradually been restored, a number of students reported academic barriers due to flooded homes, inconvenience caused by temporary housing, and post-disaster trauma. 

As an instructor, you want to help students recover from the disaster and successfully complete your class.  In this case, you are urged to: 

1. Keep track of student responses during the disaster in order to manage the progress of the class. 
2. Understand students' demands and challenges for completing the course. 
3. Identify those severely affected and provide information to them about counselors and other resources. 
4. Be flexible with prior requirements as students complete course work.
