Adaptive Athletics Program

Adaptive Athletics at the University of Houston student-led program focused on empowering athletes with physical disabilities through hands-on adaptive sport practice volunteering, and running international and local adaptive sport events.

Housed in the University of Houston, AAUH is dedicated to promoting athletic programs (e.g., wheelchair tennis) and events (e.g., tournaments, summer camp) throughout the year. The AAUH program also provides academic credit courses, in which undergraduate students can directly participate in service-learning experiences during the semester.

Since its inception in 2014, the AAUH enrolled more than 200 students in adaptive athletic classes and provided practical field experience to over 4,000 volunteers. The program has served over 170 tennis participants with more than 1100 hours of tennis practice, and hosted over 20 national and international tournaments for 2,500 athletes outside of the program.

In addition to hosting regular sport practices and events for athletes of all ages and levels, AAUH also partners with Houston recreation and parks, providing assistance for wheelchair rugby programming and other city adaptive sport events.

Come volunteer for practices and events!
