Valenti offers students a wealth of opportunities to enhance their academic experience and prepare for successful careers through various student organizations and campus media groups. From attending workshops to applying to internships, there are numerous ways for students to get involved, build skills and make lasting connections.

Join Student Organizations

American Advertising Federation at UH (AAF-UH)

AAF-UH is dedicated to preparing its members for successful careers in advertising, marketing, media, public relations and related fields. Through workshops, advertising competitions and connections with alumni and agencies, AAF-UH members develop their skills and secure valuable internship opportunities.

Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA)

Founded in 1968, the University of Houston’s chapter of PRSSA is one of the original alpha chapters. PRSSA at UH, with its 40 members and executive committee, provides a platform for students to develop professional relationships and enhance their public relations skills.

National Association of Black Journalists at UH (NABJ)

NABJ at UH, also known as the "Black Press," focuses on highlighting positive stories within the African American community both on campus and in the greater Houston area. This group connects black journalism and media students with industry professionals, offering opportunities for internships and career advancement.

Valenti Student Advisory Council

The Valenti Student Advisory Council offers students a chance to step into leadership roles, build confidence and make a tangible impact within the school. Members of the council advise on student needs and contribute to enhancing the academic environment.

Get Involved in Campus Media

The Center for Student Media boasts several media outlets, including The Cougar, CoogTV and Coog Radio. Students can contribute as writers, broadcasters and producers, gaining practical experience in a collaborative environment.

The Cougar

The Cougar is a student-run newspaper dedicated to bringing UH students, staff and faculty news and information relevant to the University and higher education. Issues print every other Wednesday during the school year and are available in newspaper stands throughout campus, on their website, or through email editions.

CoogTV

CoogTV is the University of Houston's student-run television program. This fee-funded registered student organization provides students the unique opportunity to develop television shows, commercials and special features, giving them a creative outlet while building their portfolios.

Coog Radio

Coog Radio is an online radio station run by UH students. It offers a creative outlet for students to express themselves over the air and introduces them to the world of broadcasting. Members can explore engineering, marketing, digital design, blogging, concert reviewing and more.
