November 18, 2013 Regent Hollingsworth Reception UH BLN Honors Regents Chairman Hollingsworth

November 18, 2013 reception honoring University of Houston System Board of Regents Chairman Jarvis V. Hollingsworth, which was held in O’Quinn Great Hall, UH Athletics Alumni Center. UH System Board of Regents Chairman Jarvis V. Hollingsworth Sponsors of this reception was a collaborative effort of University of Houston’s Black Leadership Network along with African American Studies, Cougars Athletic Alliance and Black Alumni Association.  The attendance was fantastic. The program began with Dr. Elwyn Lee’s recognition and introduction of every faculty member, key administrators and staff present, saying something specific about each one. This was great. We thank Dr. Lee for this outstanding contribution to the program. Following this, impromptu remarks were made by former UH Regent Lynden Rose, state representative Ron Reynolds (from Fort Bend County) and an undergraduate member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Regent Hollingsworth received gifts from the Alphas, African American Studies, and the combined sponsors: BLN, AAS, UHCAA and UHBAA. The program was closed with a video with comments from Regent Hollingsworth’s wife, law partners, minister and others. The program was followed with the dining of very tasteful catered food. Regent Hollingsworth stayed for over two hours and spoke personally to everyone who wanted to meet and talk with him. He very much appreciated this affair. Again, special thanks go out to the sponsoring groups and Dr. Lee.
