Scholarship Application Information

PURPOSE:

Promote and support academic excellence by empowering students to excel

ELIGIBILITY:

• Must be a full-time students enrolled at the
  University of Houston for the fall 2014 semester
• Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

• Application packets must be received by the close of business
  (5 p.m.) on Friday, July 11, 2014.
• The BLN Scholarship Application packet must include the following:
  • Completed application form
  • Statement of academic and career goals (250–350 words, typed, double spaced)
    Please describe your academic and career goals and how this scholarship will assist you in achieving these goals.  If you attended The EVENT College Readiness Conference, please include a brief statement on how the conference impacted your decision to attend the University of Houston.
  • An official high school transcript (if incoming freshmen)
    or UH transcript
  • One letter of recommendation (Do not use a family member)

SCHOLARSHIP NOTIFICATION:

Recipients will be notified by Friday, August 1, 2014.

SELECTION AND AWARDS PROCESS:

• Award recipients must provide a letter of acceptance to the Black Leadership Network no later than Friday, August 8, 2014.
• Awards will be credited to the student’s University of Houston account upon completion of verification of full-time enrollment status for the fall 2014 semester.
