OUR PHILOSOPHY

Industrial Design Class of 2022

We Cultivate Creative Thinkers and Doers for the Future

The Hines College’s ID program is committed to inspiring and forming students through a systematic learning process. Generative and discovery-oriented learning is supported by the following pillars:

Integrated Learning

Increasingly blurred boundaries among disciplines and industries demand ID students possess a broad base of knowledge and skills for dealing with complex problems. The structurally integrated curriculum focuses on making connections among skills, methods, concepts, and experimentations so students are motivated and equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to approach novel and multifaceted issues.

Collaborative Learning

Small class settings allow our award-winning faculty members to engage with students on a one-on-one basis or in smaller groups. Energetic and meaningful faculty-student interaction helps our students develop deeper processing, understanding, oral communication, self-management, and leadership skills. Students graduate from the program with more self-esteem, responsibility, and understanding of diverse perspectives.

Project-oriented Learning

Our students enjoy and benefit more from a project-orientated learning model. The pragmatic problem-finding, analyzing, and solving process is particularly effective in training students to develop their unique skill sets. Our alumni have reported this as being a valuable asset in their careers. Our quality of learning is further enhanced by professional-led workshops and robust industry-sponsored programs.
