The College of Pharmacy at UH is at the forefront of integrating artificial intelligence into every stage of the pharmaceutical lifecycle—from initial drug discovery to population-level health analysis. By leveraging sophisticated AI tools and "big data," our researchers and students are accelerating the development of new therapies, personalizing patient care, and shaping the future of healthcare policy.
AI applications are significantly advancing the drug development process. Our research teams are leveraging AI to:
- Enhance our drug discovery efforts to develop new small molecule and biologic therapies from an efficacy and toxicology perspective
- Enhance our complex biological modeling of pathophysiology and disease state progression
- Identifying biomarkers, disease tracking, and patient stratification
- Enhance the design and implementation of clinical trials
- Enhance pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacoeconomic and populations health analysis
AI Tools:
- Using Molecular Operating Environment (MOE) and other software that uses AI to predict how drugs bind onto their target sites
- Using AI in research in studies involving pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacoeconomics, and population health analysis involving big data.
- Integrating AI-powered tools like ChatGPT, Playlab, and NotebookLM, along with gamification platforms such as WiscOnline and Hot Potatoes
