The UH Office of Emergency Management encourages everyone to visit the Siren Awareness page. The UH outdoor warning siren system is part of the emergency alert notification system and is designed to alert students, faculty, staff and visitors of impending outdoor danger.
The system is activated by the UH Department of Public Safety in the event of an emergency when it may be unsafe to be outdoors.
The siren provides a quick method of notifying the entire campus with an audible tone that can be heard outdoors alerting students, faculty and staff to seek shelter indoors.
During a real emergency, the siren system is used in conjunction with other communication channels such as email, the UH Emergency Operations Center website and text messaging.
