Sign up now to be a Finals Mania volunteer

When Finals Mania returns to the Elizabeth D. Rockwell Pavilion in the M.D. Anderson Library next month, a small army of volunteers will once again be needed to make the evening run smoothly.

Now is the time for faculty and staff to sign up to help with the event, which will take place Monday, May 2, from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. Those who would like to volunteer can click here to review the different roles that are available before choosing the ones that interest them. The online sign-up process requires an email address, which will not be shared with anyone. Those who prefer not to use their email address should contact Auxiliary Services Marketing Coordinator Leighanne Dean directly at lndean@uh.edu to sign up.

Finals Mania is a twice-a-year tradition held at the end of the fall and spring semesters to provide a much-needed break for students who are hard at work preparing for final exams. Around 1,700 students are expected to come and get a plate of pancakes and turkey sausage, as well as coffee, orange juice and snacks.

Volunteer opportunities include distributing meal tickets to students, assisting with volunteer check-in, manning beverage stations, clearing trash, distributing snacks and greeting students.

“We encourage every employee and faculty member at UH to volunteer at least one time,” Dean said. “It is a fun and rewarding experience to help reduce some of the stress students feel during finals.”
