Texas currently ranks 47th out 50 states in primary care physician-to-patient ratio. In the next 10 years, more than 6,000 primary care physicians will be needed to bridge this gap.
The College of Medicine has adopted a distinctive approach to tackle this health care crisis. By providing generous scholarships to ensure student success, implementing an innovative educational model focused on building connections and enriching the greater Houston community and employing expert faculty, the Fertitta Family College of Medicine plans to revolutionize the future of health care in Texas.

We partner with pre-existing clinics and practicing doctors in our community to educate our students so that they may serve in the communities where they are needed the most.
