DNS Service Disruption

UIT Alert: DNS Service Disruption

Current Status

ResolvedCurrently no DNS Disruption

Resolution Statement

Actions and Root Causes

There continue to be random delays in DNS response and in some cases DNS resolution. Note that the windows are usually a few minutes, and the attacks are short but effective in duration, and sometime they are frequent and one after another.Since Thursday, we have had to take actions overnight and during the day to prevent DNS interruptions.

Corrective and Preventative Measures

Can you log the inbound DNS queries (i.e. on MS DNS), to see where the queries are coming from. Is there any way to check and see if the MX queries to MS DNS servers are initiated from one of the email servers.
