Prospective Students

The Honors College at the University of Houston provides a supportive small-college environment within a large metropolitan university, offering the best of both collegiate worlds to the University's most academically talented undergraduates.

To a large extent, the mission of the Honors College is to complement all undergraduate degree plans at the University of Houston as a way to stress the importance of a well-balanced education. As part of their Honors College experience, students are called upon not only to strive for excellence, but also to examine their character. Whether by close analysis of classic literature, rigorous practice and application of calculus or involvement in extracurricular enterprises, the Honors College endorses a full-spectrum liberal education so that students will be able to think critically and communicate effectively in and outside of the academic hemisphere. Furthermore, the Honors College houses some of the University's finest faculty who readily work individually with students to build a stimulating intellectual environment designed to encourage creativity and acuity of mind.

Admission to the Honors College is available to students:

  • Entering the University of Houston as freshmen
  • Enrolled at the University of Houston for just one or several semesters
  • Transferring from another college
