WhatsApp Study: Kenya

We are currently recruiting Kenyan participants over the age of 18 to take part in a research project.

This study is conducted by Dr. Dani Madrid-Morales at the University of Houston and Dr. Melissa Tully at the University of Iowa.

This project is trying to better understand how citizens gather and consume information on social media. Participants in this study will be asked to complete two online surveys (one lasting 20 to 30 minutes and one lasting 10 to 15 minutes) and to receive daily messages on WhatsApp for two weeks.

The surveys will ask questions about your news consumption, social media use, and views on news and current events.

On WhatsApp, you will get daily information about Africa and the world. Participants in the study will be asked to check the messages at least once a day for two weeks.

At the end of the study, participants who have completed the two surveys and checked the WhatsApp messages for two weeks will receive a 2,000KES mobile phone top up.
