Ricardo Lent is a Professor in the Department of Engineering Technology at the University of Houston and Program Director of Computer Engineering Technology. He received his Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Central Florida, an M.Sc. in Telecommunications Engineering from Universidad Nacional de Ingenierķa, and a B.Sc. in Electronic Engineering from Universidad Ricardo Palma. His prior experience includes appointments as a Research Fellow in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Imperial College London, where he contributed to multiple UK and EU projects; Principal Network Engineer in industry; and Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Central Florida. His research interests span networking and distributed systems, with emphasis on cognitive networks, mobile and pervasive communications, mobile ad hoc networks, wireless sensor networks, green computing, and space networking. Dr. Lent has published more than 100 conference proceedings and journal papers in these areas, and his work has received four paper awards. He regularly teaches networking and computing courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition to his academic duties, he regularly contributes to industry as a scientific consultant. Dr. Lent is a recipient of NASA’s Early Career Faculty Research Grant Award (2017) . He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and directs the Intelligent Networks Research Lab at the University of Houston. |
