::Tissue Factor

Tissue factor is a primary initiator of blood coagulation, and aberrant activation of the molecule may lead to thrombosis, arthrosclerosis, septic shock and cancer. We are interested in how covalent modification via phosphorylation of the Tissue Factor Cytoplasmic Domain (TFCD) acts as an affinity switch and is the focus of this project. The NMR structures reveal the changes in electrostatics and structural that occur upon phosphorylation. We are currently working on determining the structure of the phosphorylation-specific and inhibited TFCD complexes.
