- The pressure exerted by the vapor in the flask at equilibrium is called the equilibrium vapor pressure, or just the vapor pressure.
- Vapor pressure of a substance increases as temperature increases. A larger fraction of molecules move fast enough to escape the liquid.
- The vapor pressure also depends on the intermolecular forces present.
- Molecules of substances with weaker intermolecular attractions vaporize more easily.
- At a given temperature, the substance with the weakest intermolecular forces has the highest vapor pressure.
