Mission Statement

The mission of INROADS is to develop and place talented minority youth in business and industry and prepare them for corporate and community leadership.

Introduction

Dear 2001 INROADS/Houston Interns,

Welcome to the INROADS Student Association (ISA) web page! As an INROADS intern and your 2001 ISA President, I would like to extend an invitation, to all INROADERS, to browse through our site. The ISA web site was created to serve as a vehicle for allowing the INROADS interns to become actively involved in the planning and administration of ISA and INROADS and to stay closely connected to ISA officers during the summer. Part of the ISA purpose is to serve as a liaison between the intern and INROADS/Houston staff, and hopefully, the web site will help us support that goal.

In 1982 INROADS/Houston began operations and soon after INROADS Student Association started. The INROADS Student Association brought together the INROADS’ Houston area interns to form a networking circle around community service and social activities to extend the scope of the intern process. Beyond those two organizations, INROADS Student Association –University of Houston Chapter serves to bring together fellow UH INROADERS and promote the INROADS mission at the University of Houston’s campus. There are other school campuses across the nation that do have and support a collegiate ISA group. Together, these INROADS organizations provide a solid foundation for interns to prepare and develop ourselves through networking, training programs, and internships

My advice to all of you is to come out and participate in the events planned for you this summer. Having an internship is just one element of the total experience of being an INROADS intern. When I first joined in summer ’98, I immediately saw the benefits INROADS offered to me. Not only did I have a full time job during the summer with a top IT company but I also had the immediate convenience of networking with some really talented peers. So, even if you don’t become an ISA officer right away, come out and support ISA programming this summer. Take full advantage of the opportunities that await you along your path toward success, don’t let them pass you by!
