Undergraduate Auditions
Fundamentals
- All major scales (full-range scales encouraged)
- Minor scales (Optional, but encouraged)
- Chromatic Scale
Repertoire
Students should prepare two contrasting movements from a standard work within the saxophone repertoire and should showcase the student’s strengths. The following pieces are suggested works:

Sightreading
Students auditioning for undergraduate may be asked to sightread an excerpt of music from band, orchestral, etude, or concert repertoire.
Graduate Auditions
Fundamentals
- Full range major and minor scales (extension into the altissimo register is encouraged)
- All major and minor intervals
- Chromatic Scale, whole tone scales, diminished scales
Repertoire
Students should prepare three complete works from the saxophone repertoire. One selection should be from standard literature (Ex. Concertino Da Camera by Jacques Ibert, etc.). Music selection should showcase the student’s strengths. The following pieces are suggested works:
