The UH Cougars (32-3) recorded a historic win on Friday night in the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament and will now face No. 11 seed Ohio State on Sunday at 7:40 p.m. inside the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla. with a berth to the Sweet 16 on the line.
Houston First, Avenida Houston, the University of Houston and KHOU will co-host UH Basketball Watch Party Sunday, March 24 at 6:30 p.m., approximately one hour before tip-off, on the Plaza at Avenida Houston. The public is invited to attend the free event in front of the George R. Brown Convention Center in downtown Houston.
With Friday’s 84-55 win, the UH Cougars Men’s Basketball team recorded their second-biggest NCAA Tournament victory in school history. It trailed only the 103-68 Houston win in the NCAA Midwest Regional Title game in Wichita, Kan., on March 16, 1968.
Outdoor seating and multiple screens carrying live coverage of the game will be set up in the plaza to feature the No.9/11-ranked Cougars’ second round game. The fanfare on the Plaza at Avenida Houston will include UH cheerleaders and dance team, mascot Sasha, members of the Spirit of Houston marching band and HTown Rush contributor and comedian Chinedu Ogu will emcee the festivities. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
