Power on UH Campus Shut Off Starting at 1 a.m., Oct. 10

Planned Outage Part of Repairs to Electrical Feeders, May Last Up to Four Hours

The University of Houston continues to repair damage caused by a lightning strike to two of its electrical feeders – Cougar 1 and Cougar 3. To effectively test the repairs to Cougar 3, UH’s Facilities Management electrical team will shut off power on campus at 1 a.m., Oct. 10. The planned outage could last up to four hours.
 
UH faculty, staff and students are advised to turn offcomputers and electrical equipment during this time. Also, UH community members should save or back up data and make provisions for research equipment or experiments. Outside lighting will be minimized during this time, so take precautions while walking or driving on campus. Generators will provide power to emergency systems.
 
A limited number of UH facilities and resources will not be affected. These include:
