A Message from Dean Spann

Respect is one of our core RISE values at the UH Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine. As students, staff, and faculty, we want to role model respect for our patients, our loved ones, our friends and colleagues, and each other. Respect involves valuing others as much as we value ourselves. It requires personal humility, and a focus on listening to and learning from others to better understand them. I believe that it also involves empathy, and compassion. Respecting others allows us to build trusting relationships, and to be more effective healers, teachers, learners, and leaders.

- Steve Spann
