The University of Houston, including UH at Sugar Land and Katy, will close at 3:00 pm on Monday, Sept. 13, 2021, due to inclement weather associated with Tropical Storm Nicholas. UH will remain closed through Tuesday, Sept. 14. 

Our residence halls will remain open. Flooding, power outages, interruptions in air conditioning, and other challenges can happen in weather emergencies. Please submit a FIXIT request or contact your hall staff to report any issues as soon as possible.

Personal Preparation 

  • Review this emergency preparedness list for information on what you need to do before a storm. 

  • Students with disabilities may want to contact roommates, friends, or family members for assistance in evacuating. 

  • In case transportation and roadways are impacted: 

  • Have food and water available in your room. 

  • Have medications, toiletries, face coverings, other PPE, and other essential items available in your room. 

In-Hall Contacts 

  • Residents should contact the front desk of their hall if they have questions. 

  • If there is not a person at the desk, look for an “on-call” phone number that will be posted. 

Parking for Residents 

  • Residential students can park in the Elgin Street Garage beginning at noon today (Monday, Sept. 13). 

  • You must have a valid UH permit to park your vehicle until the storm threat is over. 

UH Dining Information 

  • Moody Dining Commons - Open until 9 pm  

  • Cougar Woods Dining Commons - Open until 9 pm 

  • University Lofts Market - Closing at 7 pm  

  • Cougar Village Market - Closing at 9 pm
