Dear Coogs,

Parking and Transportation Services will be converting to virtual permits starting in the Fall 2022 semester. When that happens, you no longer will use a physical hang tag. Instead, your license plate will serve as your permit.

To explain how virtual parking permits will work, we are holding numerous informational sessions. Three of them will take place in February through Microsoft Teams:

  • Monday, Feb. 14, 1:30-2:30 p.m. (meeting link)
  • Wednesday, Feb. 23, 10-11 a.m. (meeting link)
  • Thursday, Feb. 24, 2:30-3:30 p.m. (meeting link)

Everyone is invited to attend. We will hold more sessions in the months to follow to provide updates.

Update Your Vehicle Information

It is important that your vehicle information is accurate in your myParking account. Now is a good time to log in and make sure your vehicle details - including license plate numbers - are correct. If there are any vehicles in your account that you no longer own or use, email the information to parking@uh.edu so we can remove them. (Please note: vehicles cannot be removed if there are any outstanding citations associated with them).

Adding Toll Tags to Garage/Gated Lot Permits

If you have a garage or gated lot permit and have a toll tag (EZ Tag, NTTA Toll Tag or TxTag) on your vehicle, you can add it to your permit for hands-free entry and exit. There is no fee and no money is deducted from your toll account.

If you are not already using your toll tag but would like to, follow these steps to add it to your permit:

  • Sign in to your myParking account through AccessUH.
  • Click on your name in the upper right corner.
  • Click "Manage Your Account Information" in the pull-down menu.
  • Edit the toll tag information at the bottom of the page.
  • Enter only the eight numerals in the toll tag number. Letters and special characters will prevent the tag from working properly.

We encourage everyone to attend one of the virtual permit informational sessions. If you have any questions, reach out to us at 832-842-1097 or parking@uh.edu. You can also contact us through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Reddit. Sign up for text message alerts by texting COOGPARK to 55744.
