Homecoming 2023 

Homecoming is more than a football game- it’s a week celebrating the University of Houston, uniting students and organizations, and showcasing Cougar Pride and Spirit during one of the oldest traditions on campus! For each day of Homecoming, there are different events for students, alumni, and the UH community. Donuts with Dr. Dan 

Donuts with Dr. Dan is an informal session with Interim Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Daniel Maxwell, where students have the opportunity to discuss their college experience, comments, concerns, and more about the Division of Student Affairs and its 22 departments. Enjoy donuts and coffee while having an honest conversation about the University of Houston and the Division of Student Affairs. Suicide Remembrance Reception and Gallery

UH Wellness and CAPS are hosting a reception for students, faculty, and staff to remember those they’ve lost to suicide or mental health challenges. Attendees will be able to hear from members of the UH community who have experienced loss first hand.

Date: Tuesday, October 24th, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., located at the Elizabeth D. Rockwell Pavillion. Click here for more information. 

Fresh Check Day 

Fresh Check Day is a national event from the Jordan Porco Foundation that seeks to bring awareness to different types of mental health issues and coping strategies, along with campus mental health resources in a fun and interactive experience. Join us for free giveaways and an honest and open conversation on mental health.

How Mindfulness Can Help Students Achieve Academic Excellence and Improve Well-being

Join the A.D. Bruce Religion Center Speakers Series on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. located in the Meditation Chapel. Mindfulness practice includes present-focused awareness, acceptance, nonjudgment, and being kind toward oneself and others. Studies showed that mindfulness practice can serve as an extremely powerful protective factor against mental health challenges, i.e., stress, anxiety, depression, and others. Join this speaker series to learn how mindfulness practice can help you improve mental well-being and be successful in school.
