Impact of Commencement on Campus Traffic, Parking

University of Houston fall commencement ceremonies will take place on campus Friday, Dec. 15, through Saturday, Dec. 16. Those of you who will be on campus should be aware of the areas that will be impacted by commencement parking and increased traffic.

Fertitta Center

Commencement parking for ceremonies held at the Fertitta Center will utilize the Stadium Garage, Lot 16B (Zone B) and Lot 15C (Zone F).

  • Stadium Garage permit holders can still park in the garage, but expect heavy congestion and plan accordingly. 
  • Those who have a reserved parking permit in Lot 15C will still be able to access their space on these days. The remainder of the lot will not be available for UH parking permit holders to use.
  • Lot 16B will still be accessible for UH parking permit holders to utilize, but expect heavy congestion and plan accordingly.

Cullen Performance Hall

Commencement parking for ceremonies held at Cullen Performance Hall will utilize the visitor section of the Welcome Center Garage. 

  • Welcome Center Garage permit holders should expect heavy congestion and should plan accordingly.

Please note: Relaxed parking rules are in place until the start of the spring semester. 

Expect traffic congestion along MLK Boulevard, Cullen Boulevard, Elgin Street, Holman Street and Scott Street. 

The ceremony dates and times are as follows:

Friday, Dec 15

  • 9 a.m. - Fertitta Center 
  • 9 a.m. - Cullen Performance Hall
  • 2 p.m. - Fertitta Center
  • 2 p.m. - Cullen Performance Hall
  • 7 p.m. - Fertitta Center
  • 7 p.m. - Cullen Performance Hall

Saturday, Dec 16

  • 9 a.m. - Fertitta Center
  • 11 a.m. - Cullen Performance Hall
  • 2 p.m. - Fertitta Center
