Dear Campus Community,

At the beginning of this year, we had the pleasure of announcing an important new initiative for the University of Houston – Together, We Rise. Together, We Soar.  This strategic plan provides the direction we will follow and the objectives we will reach during the next decade as we elevate UH into a Top 50 Public University.

Obviously, this will require the coordinated efforts of many people and programs here at UH. Today, we would like to update you about the status of the strategic plan.

We are now in the initial phase of the Implementation Process, which is being supported and monitored by co-chairs Bettina M. Beech, associate provost for Strategic Initiatives and Population Health Research, and Greg Bean, executive director, Gutierrez Energy Management, C.T. Bauer College of Business.  Specifically, there is a 7-year cycle for implementation of the strategic plan, which is divided into four distinct phases (Phase 1 is one year and Phases 2-4 two years each).  During this period, a written implementation progress report will be provided annually to the provost and president.  Additionally, the president will conduct periodic reviews of the plan, as needed.

Detailed updates regarding implementation of the strategic plan will be posted regularly on the UH strategic plan webpage.

Each of the plan’s Five Goals is supported by a committee with co-leaders who have identified additional members.  These committees are now meeting monthly  and each committee is focused on identification and prioritization of implementation strategies.
