Through inspirational teaching, critical research, and mentoring and advising students, exceptional faculty have brought national recognition to the University of Houston. The award recipients will be honored during the 2022 Faculty Excellence Awards celebration on May 5, 2022. Please join Provost Short in congratulating these highly deserving faculty members!

Moores Professorship

This five year, renewable professorship is awarded to faculty in recognition of outstanding teaching, research, and service.

Teaching Excellence Awards

The Teaching Excellence Awards recognize the achievements of faculty in eight individual categories: Teaching Excellence, Provost Core, Innovation in Instructional Technology, Instructor/Clinical, Graduate Teaching Assistant, Community Engagement, Career, and Distinguished Leadership in Teaching Excellence. The Teaching Excellence Awards also recognize Group Teaching as a separate category.

Teaching Excellence
This award is given to faculty in recognition of outstanding achievements in teaching.

This award is given to faculty who have demonstrated excellence in innovative teaching using instructional technology.

This award is given in recognition of outstanding teaching by faculty instructors, clinical faculty, research faculty, artist affiliates, and lecturers.

Distinguished Leadership in Teaching Excellence
This award is given in recognition of faculty who have made sustained and significant contributions to education within the context of their responsibilities as a full-time faculty member.

Group Teaching
This award recognizes groups of faculty in both formal and informal programs who demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and student success, and who have worked together collaboratively to improve student outcomes.

This award recognizes the mentorship efforts of University of Houston faculty at all stages of their careers. The award acknowledges faculty who are making a significant impact in their field by supporting and mentoring undergraduate students in research and scholarship endeavors and who have demonstrated at least five years of mentorship involvement.
