Dear University of Houston Community,

The time has arrived—the start of a new academic year!

It’s an exciting moment, particularly for our new Cougars. Those faculty, staff and students arriving to UH for the first time will experience many longstanding fall traditions on our campus.

One tradition I am proud to be a part of is this newsletter, Cougar Milestones. This is not just the first edition of fall semester, it happens to be my first newsletter as interim provost.

My predecessor, Dr. Paula Myrick Short, set the standard for promoting news on student success and institutional excellence. I will do my best to follow her lead, and I believe the latest Cougar Milestones spotlights several truly great things happening at UH.

These first few weeks of the semester are indeed busy, but take a moment to browse through this newsletter and learn more about our University. Also, make time to immerse yourselves in our Cougar culture. Meet new friends, join campus organizations, and become better acquainted with your institution. Whether you’re a new or returning Coog, you’ll always discover something new to love about the University of Houston.

Onward,

UH Interim Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost
