University of Houston

Dear Staff & Managers,

Last week, President Renu Khator announced the University’s transition to a reimagined workplace, which will offer staff greater flexibility. Our goal is to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, irrespective of how and where people work while providing students a top-tier learning experience and faculty a top-tier environment to carry out their research. We believe this new initiative will position our staff to have a greater impact on our institution as we pursue our vision of becoming a top 50 public university.

We will implement this new initiative effective Friday, April 1.  Between now and April 1, the following actions are underway:

Interim policy:  To expedite this new initiative, an interim policy will be released soon with guidelines and protocols for the implementation of the reimagined workplace. In addition, the policy will be submitted to the Policy Office and posted for UH community review (30-calendar-day comment period) during which members of the UH community may submit written feedback on the proposed policy before it is finalized.

Resources: Human Resources will roll out required training for staff and managers who participate in any element of the reimagined workplace. Additional managerial training and a website, including FAQs, forms and helpful resources, will also be released by Human Resources. Human Resources will send a communication with additional details including when training and other resources are available.

We are pleased to offer this new workplace initiative as we continue to transform lives and communities through education, research, service, and innovation.

Thank you so much for your continued service. We appreciate all that you do!

Sincerely,
