UH College of Education Leads the Way in Diversity

The College of Education’s teacher preparation program recently drew recognition from the National Council on Teacher Quality for “leading the way” in diversity and selectivity. This important intersection helps improve the diversity of the teaching workforce while accelerating K-12 student achievement. Program leaders attribute the success in part to strong partnerships with local districts and program quality.


Bauer College of Business Among Top Value Undergraduate Business Schools of 2021

According to Poets & Quants's report on the Top Value Undergraduate Business Schools of 2021, the Bauer College of Business is #17 in the nation in terms of value for undergraduate students. Dean Paul Pavlou said, "The return on the investment of just above $100,000 for our undergraduate degree. In addition, our graduates garner almost $300,000 in salary over five years. Together these create a 3:1 ratio. Coupled with our over 95% job placement rate, this is quite an impressive return on investment."


UH Law Center Immigration Clinic students worked to help free a Haitian man suffering from mental illness and facing deportation. He was released from an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center by the diligence of Clinical Professor Geoffrey Hoffman, UH Law Center students, and attorneys from Baker Botts and American Gateways law firms.  

Dr. Olga Bannova, a research professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department and the director of the Space Architecture Graduate Program, and her team at the Cullen College of Engineering are designing potential rovers and habitats for usage on the Moon. A $50,000 grant from Boeing funded the six-month lunar surface systems study.

Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design students Caleb Matheson and Darci McGee recently received the Merit Award from the AIA Fort Worth Excellence in Architecture Student Design Awards for their project, Lewis Center, a tribute to the life and work of the late congressman John Lewis. The project was born from Professor Emily Moore's studio assignment.
