Dear Campus Community –

As we have responded to meet the COVID-19 pandemic’s many challenges during the past year and a half, the University of Houston has always made the safety and welfare of our campus community the top priority.  In keeping with that commitment, we have decided to extend the “soft opening” of our classes for an additional two weeks.

This decision comes after a careful review of the current pandemic circumstances and the recommendations of public health officials.  All academic procedures put in place for instructional delivery at the beginning of the fall semester will be continued for an additional two weeks.  We believe this is a reasonable approach to meet our educational mission while taking appropriate precautions.  For details of the original “soft opening” options, please see my earlier communication about this.

Students with questions about their classes going forward should contact their professors via email.

Faculty with questions should contact their department chairs.

If you have other questions or concerns, please email provost@uh.edu.

We will continue to monitor the progress of the ongoing Coronavirus Delta variant and respond accordingly.  We realize this extension may present additional challenges for many of you, so we appreciate your flexibility and patience.  We also hope you understand this decision is being made with your best intertest in mind.

Sincerely,

Paula Myrick Short
