Dear University of Houston Faculty and Staff:

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Nouhad Rizk has been named a 2022 Piper Professor.

This is indeed an honor for Dr. Rizk who is instructional professor of computer science and director of undergraduate studies in the Department of Computer Science. She is the first woman instructional professor at UH to earn this designation and is our institution’s 13th Piper Professor.

Each year, the Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation selects an elite group of faculty members from throughout the state for this highly-valued recognition. Piper Professors are selected for their superior teaching abilities, and as Dr. Rizk’s students and peers will attest, she is an exceptional instructor and mentor.

I look forward to recognizing Dr. Rizk and so many other faculty members during this evening's Faculty Excellence Awards event.

You can learn more about Dr. Rizk and the Piper Professorship in this online feature that is also available on the Office of the Provost’s news site and on UH’s home page.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Rizk for this accomplishment.

Warm regards,

Paula Myrick Short
Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, UH System
Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, UH
