Paula Myrick ShortSenior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost

Dear Campus Community -

It is with deep gratitude that I thank you for your many efforts over the start of the fall semester in helping to maintain a safe learning and working environment on campus. Following a thoughtful review, the UH COVID-19 Coordination Committee has made the decision to begin a transition week on Monday, September 20, to full density/in-person instruction on Monday, September 27.  At that time, classes will be resuming previously agreed upon teaching modalities.

Students with questions about their classes going forward should contact their professors via email.

Faculty with questions should contact their department chairs.

Based on our health experts’ analysis of the testing and contact tracing data, we believe that the risk of spread on campus is low, but we will continue to monitor conditions closely. I ask that you observe the existing COVID-19 safety protocols - wearing masks, getting vaccinated, getting boosters when they are recommended, and routine testing.

If you have other questions or concerns, please email provost@uh.edu.

Sincerely,

Paula Myrick Short
Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, UH System
Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, UH
Distinguished Professor of Education
