Professor of Psychology Chelsea O'Hara

Chelsea O’Hara is program director for the Hobby School of Public Affairs and its Next Generation Leadership Academy. The new undergraduate program for students seeking public service or social impact careers joins 12 other U.S. institutions in the Next Generation Service Corps. The UH program is the initiative’s first partner in Texas.


Provost Search Update
The provost search committee co-chairs provided an status update on the search for the next Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost. Following extensive input from the UH community, they recently began the formal process of reviewing applications. The goal is to bring the finalists to UH in May. 

Research Could Simplify Decisions for Ship Channel Dredging
Millions of dollars are at stake every time a major ship channel is cleaned. Zheyong Bian, assistant professor in the College of Technology, collaborated with project leader Yun Bai from Rutgers University to develop ways to maximize resources, resulting in saved time and money.

UH to Hold 17 Commencement Ceremonies
As the spring semester comes to an end, UH is preparing to host 17 commencement ceremonies from Thursday, May 12, through Sunday, May 15. For information on live streams of the ceremonies, parking, gown distribution and UH’s special traditions, visit the UH commencement website.

Reminder: Order 2022-2023 Faculty and Staff Parking Permits Now 
It is time for faculty and staff to purchase parking permits for the 2022-2023 academic year. Please note that permits for some permit holders will not automatically renew. Please refer to the email you received UH Parking and Transportation Services for direction.


10-Minute Play Festival
Multiple Dates
The School of Theatre & Dance presents the annual 10-Minute Play Festival, highlighting new work from UH student playwrights and one curated piece from the international 10-minute play contest. Performances occur at various times Friday, April 22 – Sunday, April 24. Discount tickets available for faculty, staff, students and alumni. 

Cougar Rhetoric: Toastmasters International
Join your fellow Coogs to develop your communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence, and both personal and professional growth. Cougar Rhetoric, the Toastmasters International Club for UH staff and UH student employees, meets every Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m., via Zoom.
