“OHRA,” a suite of seven panels now on display in the UH Health District

The Blaffer family gifted artwork by renowned New York artist Tobi Kahn to Public Art of the UH System. “OHRA” is a suite of seven panels now on display in the UH Health District. To create the piece, Kahn drew inspiration from conversations with Jane Blaffer Owen, who suggested he create the feeling of being on a beach, surrounded by water and sky.

Name Change Marks New Era for UH Program 
For students interested in social sciences, social issues and liberal arts like history and philosophy, Human Development and Family Sciences is the intersection of these studies. College of Education faculty recently gained state approval to change the second part of the program's name from “Family Studies” to “Family Sciences,” to reflect its real-world, data-based approach.

Reminder: Quest for Environmental and Climate Justice
Friday, Sept. 23
Plan to attend a lecture featuring Robert D. Bullard, known as the father of environmental justice. Bullard will use examples from his research on Houston and the Gulf Coast to show how race and class still map closely with pollution, unequal protection and vulnerability. This free event occurs from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 23, at the Alumni Center Great Hall. RSVP is required.

Football’s Bayou Bucket Classic: UH Cougars vs. Rice Owls
