My Table magazine’s Second Annual Golf Tournament Benefits Scholarship Endowment at Hilton College 1/25/2012

LINKS, GREENS & FRIED EGGS*

HOUSTON, Jan. 25, 2012 — Links, Greens & Fried Eggs? It may sound like brunch, but it's really golf lingo (see below). Join the Houston magazine known for covering the city's vibrant food and dining scene for its second annual charity golf tournament, which funds a scholarship endowment at the University of Houston's Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management.

There will be food stations, drinks and fun surprises throughout the beautiful BlackHorse golf course. So come play golf with your favorite restaurateurs, chefs, wine geeks and foodies. Just come hungry! (Don't play golf? Come anyway for the great food and wine tasting at the post-play 19th Hole Party.) Entry fee includes complimentary beverages and fabulous food from many of Houston's finest restaurants and purveyors, including Brennan's, Branch Water Tavern, Olivette, Ouisie's Table, Ruggles Green, Saint Arnold and many others.

WHEN: Wednesday, Feb. 15. The golf tournament registration opens at 8:30 a.m., followed by 10 a.m. tee time. The post-play 19th Hole Party, which is open to the public, is 2 to 4 p.m. in the BlackHorse clubhouse.

WHERE: BlackHorse Golf Club, 12205 Fry Road, Cypress. 281.304.1747

COST: Want to golf? The cost is $150 per player or $600 per foursome. The tournament is a four-player scramble, and "par is your friend." Don't play golf? Play hooky and come out for the 19th Hole Party 2 to 4 p.m. at the BlackHorse clubhouse. Admission is just $10 and includes all food and drink.

RAFFLE: There will be outstanding raffle baskets that include goodies such as an instant wine collection, cooking classes at Central Market, a private dinner prepared by chef Ronnie Killen, Erin Hicks Miller cookbook collection, an overnight stay and breakfast at the St. Regis hotel, tickets to University of Houston football, a private event catered by Fusion Taco truck and much more. Raffle tickets are $10 each, or 15 for $100.

REGISTRATION: Visit mytablegolftournament.com to link to the registration form.

Links: A specific kind of golf course, typically built by the sea. Many golfers, however, use "links" and "golf course" interchangeably. Greens: The culmination of a golf hole, where the flagstick and cup are located. Fried egg: A golf ball that has hit soft sand, creating a circular splash pattern. The top half of the golf ball is visible, giving it the appearance of a yolk in the middle of a fried egg.
