The University of Houston’s Recycling and Solid Waste Division is supported by an experienced team of employees, integrating their diverse skills to manage our campus’ Solid Waste System in an efficient, safe, environmental sound and cost-effective manner - guided by common sense, accountability and compassion to assist staff and the student body in maintaining and improving our quality of life.

The Recycling and Solid Waste Division will collect, transport, and dispose of solid waste from the University of Houston by the most effective and efficient method; at the least possible cost; resulting in the greatest possible satisfaction to those we serve.

The Recycling and Solid Waste Division is responsible for processing tons of trash and recycled goods generated by the central campus.

Items accepted for recycling include:

  • Aluminum cans
  • Cardboard
  • Glass
  • Wood Pallets
  • Paper (newspaper, copy paper, shredded paper, magazines, telephone books, envelopes)
  • Plastic (water bottles)
