The Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Services Assessment Committee is the recipient of the 2016 NASPA Assessment, Evaluation, and Research Knowledge Community Innovation Award (AERKC) for their DSAES Assessment Consultant Program.
In its fourth year, the Innovation Award recognizes an individual or team that is engaged in student affairs assessment activities and has proven the influence that a culture of assessment has within a department, division or across campus.
Lead by the Director of Assessment and Planning, Dr. Pamelyn Shefman and Assessment Committee Co-chairs Priyanka Raut and Rebecca Szwarc, the DSAES Assessment Committee Consultants support departments within the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Services in planning, developing, coordinating, maintaining and reporting high-quality assessment.
The DSAES Assessment Consultant Program was created in 2013-14 to provide a support role for the division-wide assessment committee at a departmental level. As volunteers, members of the consultant teams facilitate conversations about the assessment planning cycle and methodology, provide on-going support to departments as they progress through assessment activities and also keeps departments informed of deadlines and expectations during the assessment cycle. The creation of the consultant teams has led to increased knowledge of the division by those on consultant teams and shared assessment competency for all departments. DSAES departments benefit from having additional touchpoints in order to reflect on their assessment activities with the support of the consultant teams.
“We are honored and humbled to be acknowledged and know that the leadership and volunteers have made the consultation program a success. I am most proud that the program has truly advanced the culture of assessment and inquiry across the division. And this recognition is shared with all the departments within our division as they have supported the program from its inception.”
Members of the DSAES Assessment Committee will be honored during the NASPA Assessment and Persistence Conference in Portland, Oregon June 16-18, 2016. In addition, the committee will have the opportunity to present their program at the conference and receive a travel stipend for the conference.
“I am proud of the work the Assessment Committee has accomplished over the last five years. Their dedication to assisting our 29 departments in successfully engaging in assessment, evaluation and planning each year has advanced the collective good work of the division.”
Join us in congratulating our DSAES Assessment Committee on their achievement.
