August 25, 2014 - Mara Affre will join the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Services as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Services, UH System and the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Services, University of Houston effective October 13, 2014. In this role, Mara will provide leadership, management, organization and administrative oversight of a comprehensive enrollment services portfolio which includes Admissions (including undergraduate student recruitment), University Registrar, Scholarships and Financial Aid, Orientation, Student Communications and Marketing, Enrollment Management Production Support (PeopleSoft Campus Solutions) and the Welcome Center. At a UH Systems level, Mara will facilitate proactive communication and the effective application of technology amongst the four component institutions as it pertains to enrollment services. Mara’s ability to build collaborative partnerships with faculty, academic deans, staff and students in her work will enhance the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Services contributions to supporting student success at the University of Houston.

Mara Affre

Mara brings to the position more than twenty-five years of experience in enrollment services with ten of those years in senior leadership. Currently, she serves as the director of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of California San Diego. As the director, Mara manages and coordinates all components of the Office of Admissions & Relations with schools in the areas of outreach and recruitment, processing, evaluation and validation. UC San Diego is one of the nation’s most highly selective public universities with almost 90,000 applications annually. In this role, Mara serves as a member of both Student Affairs and Admissions & Enrollment Services leadership teams and is an active participant in determining freshmen and transfer enrollment targets, including the forecasting of new student yield.

Prior to her work at the University of California San Diego, Mara served as the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Services at Boise State University for five years and a concurrent role as the Interim Vice President for Student Affairs at Boise State University for one year. Previously, Mara served as the Director of Admissions and then Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Services at Southern Oregon University, the Assistant Director for Undergraduate Admissions at Arizona State University, the Program Coordinator and then Assistant Director for Undergraduate Admissions at Northern Arizona University, and held various student affairs roles at the University of California, Irvine in the early stages of her career.

Mara has a Master of Education in Counseling with a Human Relations emphasis from the University of Northern Arizona, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, Irvine. Mara is an active member and presenter with the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) and has held memberships with the state/region associations in Arizona, Oregon, and the Pacific. She is also a member of NASPA – Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education and the National Association of College Admission Counseling.
