July is National Vehicle Theft Prevention Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness and promoting proactive steps to protect your vehicle.

At the University of Houston, students, faculty, and staff benefit from robust security measures provided by the University of Houston Police Department. UHPD patrols six parking garages, eight parking lots, and 16 gated lots. Additionally, surveillance technology such as the Sky Watch Tower—equipped with cameras—enhances visibility and monitoring across campus parking areas.

While these efforts significantly deter theft, individuals can take further action to safeguard their vehicles. Here are some practical tips to help keep your car secure both on and off campus:
