The speech-language pathology master’s program has advanced in the U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools rankings for the second consecutive year, climbing to No. 39 nationwide.
The program jumped five spots from its No. 44 ranking last year.
“We have high-quality clinical training throughout the program including our University Speech-Language-Hearing clinic on campus, community partnerships and over 50 externship sites in the Houston area,” said Margaret Blake, chair of the communication sciences and disorders department.
Blake highlighted the program’s clinical educators and research faculty as key strengths.
“Our amazing clinical educators guide student clinicians in developing clinical skills, and faculty are nationally and internationally recognized for their research,” she said. “Through our excellence in teaching, scholarship and service to the community, we are increasing access to efficient communication.”
U.S. News & World Report compiles its annual rankings based partly on assessments from peer institutions. Blake views the improved ranking as recognition of the program’s comprehensive strengths.
“This ranking indicates programs across the country are recognizing our department and master’s program’s strengths in all facets,” said Blake.
