We offer language instruction in Hindi at the beginning and intermediate level:
HIND 1501: Beginning Hindi I
Cr. 5. (5-0). No prior knowledge of Hindi is required. Hindi writing, reading system, and basic conversation skills.
HIND 1502: Elementary Hindi II
Cr. 5. (3-2). Prerequisite: HIND 1501. Continued development of listening comprehension, oral communication, reading, and writing.
HIND 2301: Intermediate Hindi I
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: HIND 1502 . Continued development of listening comprehension, oral communication, reading, and writing.
HIND 2302: Intermediate Hindi II
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: HIND 2301. Continued development of listening comprehension, oral communication, reading, and writing.
Students with prior knowledge of Hindi should take the Hindi placement exam at the University Testing Services Center prior to enrolling in Hindi language classes.

Exploration of cultural diversity and identity on the Indian subcontinent. Special emphasis on transnationalism, modernity, and development through readings in contemporary literatures and film.
