David Papell

David Papell — Joel W. Sailors Endowed Professor of Economics and the UH Economics Department Chairman — asks Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke about the Taylor Rule.

Papell's Ph.D. advisor at Columbia was John Taylor, who created the Taylor Rule. Bernanke discussed the Taylor Rule and its implication for monetary policy during his speech at the 2010 American Economic Association meeting. Afterward, Papell questioned the inflation variable Bernanke used in the Taylor Rule. During the Q&A, Papell asks Bernanke about the inflation calculation.

See Papell's contribution to the EconBrowser blog about Bernanke's response.
