Herb Brochstein attended the School of Music at UH in 1945 and was a member of the first UH Marching Band. He is the founder of Pro-Mark, a company located in Houston that manufactures drumsticks and percussion accessories, which he has now sold to his son. The company sells to more than 110 countries and has clients like Ringo Starr and Phil Collins. He played professionally for 35 years, including six years with the Ed Gerlach band and many years in the Gulf Coast Giants of Jazz. Herb stays in touch with percussion faculty at the Moores School and still attends concerts there.
