Ali Yildirim

Dr. Ali Yildirim is a Visiting Scholar in the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program at UH. Dr. Yildirim earned his Ph.D. in Feminist Studies from the University of Minnesota. His work examines the entangled politics of sectarianism and sexuality in Turkey, focusing on the culturally and politically marginalized ethnoreligious Alevi community. Alongside queer and trans studies in religion, his research and teaching interests include language and knowledge production; feminist research methods; affect theory; popular culture; the politics of social movements; anthropology of the everyday; queer memory and archives; and the Middle East.
