The Department of Campus Safety offers a wide variety of health, safety, and preparedness
training. The various training courses are designed to equip participants with essential
lifesaving skills and empower them to respond effectively and to mitigate risk. Learn

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY
As part of Environmental Health and Safety's (EHS) commitment to maintaining a culture
of safety on campus, safety training is provided on a wide variety of subjects to
educate all personnel on the hazards present on campus and within their work area
and how to control or protect themselves from such hazards. Courses are offered through
online self-paced and instructor-facilitated modalities. Please access EHS’ safety course catalog with brief course descriptions and information on how to access the online courses
or register for the instructor-led sessions.
FIRE AND LIFE SAFETY
This course is designed to teach basic fire safety in an office setting. It includes
instruction on recognizing and eliminating fire hazards, knowing two ways out of every
building, and preventing fires. This is an instructor-led course. To request this

This course teaches the classes of fire, the types of fire extinguishers available,
the limitations of each type, and when to use an extinguisher. The second half of
the class provides hands-on fire extinguisher training, allowing students the opportunity
to extinguish a fire. This is an instructor-led course. To request this training session

This course is designed to provide basic crowd management information. This course
is 100% online and takes approximately one hour to complete. For more information

UH Fire & Life Safety offers the American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Saver CPR/AED Training Course for all UH Employees. This FREE training opportunity is available to all UH
Faculty and staff. To enroll in an upcoming course, please visit the course enrollment page, login with your Cougarnet credentials, and then select AHA Heart Saver - CPR Training to

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
Students, faculty and staff can sign up for this 8-week training program that prepares
you to help yourself, your family, and your neighbors in the event of a disaster.

Students, faculty, and staff will learn personal hurricane tips and preparedness on
what do to before, during, and after a hurricane. To request training, please contact
the Office of Emergency Management.
