2024 Interprofessional Summer Health Equity Research Program (SHERP): Shark Tank

The Humana Institute Interprofessional Summer Health Equity Research Program provides an evidence-based, culturally relevant summer research training and mentoring experience to undergraduate and health professions students traditionally underrepresented in the biomedical sciences. The program’s emphasis was on cultivating an environment for the success of a future health professions workforce that forms the foundation for scientific investigation, human subject training, student-mentor-guided projects, and scientific writing addressing minority health and health equity. These projects and activities were guided by experienced mentors, culminating in today’s shark tank competition where students presented their innovative solutions to health equity challenges to their peers, judges, academic institutions, and the community at large.
