Healing Injustice Conference
Friday, October 28, 2022
9:00 am - 6:30 pm
We are thrilled to invite you to the inaugural Healing Injustice conference on October 28th and 29th, 2022 in-person at the University of Houston and online. This interactive conference aims to not only share information about holistic defense, but contribute to the advancement of the field. Holistic “indigent” defense refers to approaches that engage “teams of professionals that address a range of the client’s needs.” This approach attempts to address not only clients’ legal needs, but also seeks to ameliorate the harms of arrest and incarceration (e.g., employment, housing, nutrition, access to health care) upon not only the individual, but also their family and community. This is a groundbreaking conference that brings together lawyers, social workers, community health workers, human services professionals, students, and data scientists to engage with the possibilities of reshaping the way that people without economic means experience legal representation. We hope that you will join us by registering and help us to publicize the event widely. Hope to see you there!
Breakfast, lunch, and coffee will be provided to in-person participants. For registration and more information, please go to: www.uh.edu/healing-injustice.
