Accelerating Medicine with Modern Genomics

Thursday, October 22, 2020

11:30 am - 1:00 pm

Event Abstract:

Despite many advances in the field of genomics, the standard of clinical care for many disorders, including cancer, involves methods that were developed over 60 years ago. Recent technologies are enabling a massive modernization of this clinical care both in diagnostics and therapeutics. We’ll discuss how HPC is a critical component in this modernization.

About the Speaker:

Mark Oldakowski has over 25 years of experience in the life science industry. He has worked on multiple generations of DNA sequencing instruments, including the sequencer used to sequence the first human genomes. He has also led development of PCR and DNA array instruments which are now ubiquitous in human health. Currently, Mark is the Chief Operating Officer at Bionano Genomics, a San Diego company with a vision to modernize clinical diagnostics and accelerate the search for new therapies.
